I took part in New Designers exhibition last week, along with fellow graduates from my uni. I enjoyed meeting new people and talking about my work. I felt very inspired by the diverse unique work being showcased.

The degree shows up and all our hard work has paid off. Here's a few pics of my degree show pieces.

Here's a few closeups of what I'm making at the moment. I'll be making a similar tea set for my degree show, but I've also been casting with terracotta slip as well as porcelain. Not long left now, and there's so much to do!! :{

Work in progress

Here's a few pictures of my most recent work. I've been pressing flowers into my moulds before casting them and beautiful flower impressions are left behind on the clay after they burn away during firing. For my degree show I want to create one beautiful, functional tea set.

One of my pieces got selected to be displayed in the glass cabinet after assessment. I'm very pleased that my bowl is on display for everybody to see. This is one of my favorite pieces and I'm eager to make more with similar properties.

My tea sets are highly inspired by flowers. Natural, organic flower impressions are left behind on the clay after placing pressed flowers into my moulds before casting them. The flowers look as if they've evolved and grown onto the forms. Each flower selected is one of a kind which makes each pieces one of a kind. I like to create my own forms instead of casting from found objects. All of my forms have been created by turning them on the lathe. I've carved the handles and spouts to create a more personal touch.
